THOR UK Welcomes First Apprentice Into Full-Time Employment

Publish Date: 30/03/2026

THOR Group companies around the world have a long and proud history of supporting and educating apprentices through the various career paths available in our industry. THOR UK recently became the latest company to follow this trend, with the full-time hiring of recent apprentice, Lucas Carabine, to the UK's IT team.

Lucas joined THOR UK in the summer of 2024, and has since completed his Level 4 Network Engineer apprenticeship and taken a full-time position with the team. He is the first apprentice at THOR UK to complete their programme and make this transition, which is a proud moment for both Lucas and the business.

Lucas's work for THOR UK closely aligned with his studies, centering around network infrastructure, while also supporting the business on a number of critical projects including the rollout of ATEX radios for on-site communication, implementing collaboration tools for chemistry colleagues, design and build of an IT ticketing system, and even resolving Power BI issues that were effecting production reports.

Lucas’s journey sets a strong foundation for the future. Alongside him, colleague Cory Sugden is currently working towards his degree apprenticeship within THOR UK's Microbiology laboratories. The UK team has also established a relationship with local Sir John Deane’s College through work‑experience placements and as a potential source of future apprentices.

Lucas is just one example that reflects our belief in developing people, investing in capability, and enabling the extraordinary through expertise and teamwork.
