Our Safety and Health Commitment to our Colleagues

The health of our colleagues, no matter where they are in the world, is always our top priority at THOR. We continuously take measures to promote a healthy working environment, and as today is World Day for Safety and Heath at Work, here are some insights into how our colleagues in Speyer, Germany, are taken care of at THOR GmbH.

At THOR GmbH, two physicians and a medical assistant are on-site two days a week to ensure comprehensive medical care is accessible. Last year, a total of 1,146 occupational health examinations were conducted. These included both preventive occupational health examinations, such as those related to handling hazardous substances, noise exposure, or screen work. Aptitude tests were also held for activities involving driving, operating, or monitoring machinery, as well as the wearing of heavy respiratory protection.

Another important component of THOR GmbH's health measures, is the offer of influenza vaccinations. Last year, 71 vaccinations were administered to staff, in order to support the health of our workforce during the flu season.

The team have also established a free consultation hour to support colleagues in any way they may need. These consultations are available two days a week and allow our colleagues to seek medical advice without prior appointment, both for occupational health and general questions.

Additionally, biomonitoring (for activities involving hazardous substances) is conducted as needed, and the medical team are available for regular and needs-based consultations, for example, as part of occupational health management procedures, site inspections, and safety meetings.

At THOR GmbH, as with all of our sites around the world, we are actively committed to promoting the safety and health of our employees – not just on World Safety and Health Day, but all year round.

We have global policies and initiatives in place to ensure our people are always protected and looked after. All colleagues worldwide are covered by THOR Group’s Health, Safety, and Environmental Policy, and all have access to our online mental health portal and helpline through our Employee Support Programme. Our international travellers also have access to emergency medical, security, and logistical support when travelling abroad.
