THOR Group Launch First Sustainability Report and ESG Strategy

THOR Group is pleased to announce the launch of its inaugural Sustainability Report, titled: Sustainable Through Science – Sustainability strategy launch report 2024.

For over 65 years, THOR and the solutions we provide have been quietly improving the performance and extending the life of everyday products. Our efforts in preservation and protection have been inherently helping make the world a more sustainable place for decades. And as innovators, we’re well established at finding better ways to do things, both in our laboratories and throughout our operations. With this new report, we’ve set out an honest understanding of the areas in which we can improve, and are committing to a set of ambitious and realistic targets.

Included within the Sustainability Report is our 2030 ESG Strategy. In it, we cite evidence of THOR’s positive work in chemical protection and preservation, along with areas where we still have work to do. These are segmented into four key pillars – Planet, People, Products, and Governance – and will guide our Environment, Safety, and Governance (ESG) actions for years to come.

During 2024, THOR Group conducted a Double Materiality Assessment, an industry recognised methodology for evaluating a company’s impact on the environment and society (impact materiality) and how sustainability issues affect the company’s financial performance (financial materiality). This approach helped THOR to identify which ESG impacts, risks and opportunities (IROs) are most important and where we should focus our efforts over the coming years. From this, we established a set of focus topics and targets for each of our key pillars.

At THOR, we recognise that our future growth depends on a clear, collective commitment to addressing key ESG issues. This commitment is not only essential for our customers and other stakeholders, but for future generations deserving a safer, greener planet.

Our ESG focus is a critical enabler in our 2030 business strategy and is central to our newly launched sustainability strategy, which will guide our actions and decisions moving forward. We’re focused on ensuring THOR remains fit for the 21^st Century and will play a meaningful role in shaping a more sustainable world. This report outlines the steps we’re taking to achieve that vision.
