Successful ISO 50001 Energy Management System Audit for THOR GmbH

We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the initial certification audit for DIN EN ISO 50001, the standard for energy management systems (EnMS).

Across THOR Group's worldwide business, we're constantly mindful of harmonising the needs of our customers with those of the planet. Now, more than ever, it's important to be mindful of the impact we have on the environment and the communities around our sites.

Earlier this year, our team at THOR GmbH including Torsten Wehe, Alex Sawisar, Carmen Fehl, and Monika Letourneur, engaged external auditors to assess the eligibility of the site's energy management system for the ISO certification.

What exactly was the audit about?

The goal was to examine whether our energy management system meets the requirements of DIN EN ISO 50001 – and whether it is effectively implemented across everyday operations. The International Organization for Standardization's ISO 50001 provides a framework of requirements for organisations to:

• Develop a policy for more efficient use of energy

• Fix targets and objectives to meet the policy

• Use data to better understand and make decisions about energy use

• Measure the results

• Review how well the policy works, and

• Continually improve energy management.

Why do we need an energy management system?

Aside from our commitment as a company to look after people and planet, the implementation of a successful energy management system brings us - and the environment - a host of benefit.

As well as allowing us to gain a clear overview of our energy consumption, it also enables us to implement targeted savings measures, and reduce costs through more efficient processes.

Increasing the amount and quality of data we have about our energy usage, allows us to further strengthen our sustainability activities, and ensure we are fully transparent and compliant with local and regional requirements.
