Lions oversee new THOR site opening in Malaysia

THOR celebrated the opening of its newest site, a second Malaysian premises, this April, overseen by two special guests.

Having been established in Malaysia since 1995, THOR’s presence in Malaysia was boosted this month by the addition of office premises nearby to our manufacturing plant and technical centre.

THOR CEO David Hewitt was in attendance for the ribbon cutting, alongside COO Dr Zheng Qinglin and MD of THOR Malaysia Kiew Chee Heong, but it was the presence of two ceremonial dancing lions that drew big crowds in Shah Alam, near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Symbolising power, wisdom and superiority, the two lions performed a lion dance for prosperity and good luck, providing some wonderful entertainment to the onlooking crowd, which included THOR staff, distributors from Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines, as well as local customers from Nippon, AkzoNobel, Jotun, Kansai and more.

Speaking at the event, Kiew shared the strong belief that our new site will provide a greater logistic service to the SEA region and local industries.

He said: “THOR Group has demonstrated the commitment in this region to upgrade our production facilities and technical centre at the old site. We will start planning the renovation project within next year. Upon completion, we will be able to offer even better logistic and technical services to the industries in this region.

“To all the employees present here, this day we shall not only value our professional crests but also each other. For our team, anything is possible when we work in unity. It is through the dedication and hard work of each one of you that we keep moving upwards and achieve greater heights. I sincerely thank and acknowledge every one of you who extended help for making this event a grand success.”

The opening ceremony was followed by a special dinner, hosted by David, Qinglin and Kiew. What a fantastic beginning for our newest site!
